Dr Nathan Tso is a Sports and Exercise Medicine Registrar currently undertaking his specialist training with the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians. Despite having always been fascinated by sports from a young age, his calling as an athlete never came. Nathan graduated from Melbourne High School in 2012 and completed a Bachelor of Biomedicine with first class honours. He then graduated from a Doctor of Medicine at The University of Melbourne in 2019. Having suffered an ACL injury of his own during this time, Nathan’s passion for sports never waivered and culminated in a trip to the UK where he underwent a medical elective in Sports Medicine at University College London. On returning home, he completed his MD research project in the field of Sports Medicine with a first author publication in the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine.

After graduating from medicine, Nathan served for 2 terms as the President of Sports and Exercise Medicine Students’ Australia (SEMSA). He is now a member of the Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) Victorian State Council.

Nathan has a keen interest in contact sports, managing acute on-field injuries such as musculoskeletal trauma and concussion, through to rehabilitation and return to play considerations. He was the team doctor for the Williamstown VFLW team in 2022 and is currently the team doctor for the Casey Demons VFL team and gameday doctor for the Western Jets U19s Boys and Girls teams. Nathan has also recently started working as the team doctor for the WNBL Melbourne Boomers basketball team.

As a proud GWS Giants’ supporter, Nathan can be spotted in his spare time passionately supporting his team at their Melbourne-based matches. He also enjoys playing tennis, table tennis and soccer outside of work.
