Working with the Under 17 Victorian side as their physiotherapist was an absolute privilege with such a talented and fun group of girls. A team of 12 was selected last October with some players travelling from regional Victoria up to 3 hours away to train every weekend.
The team trained most Sunday mornings for 6 months before competing in Sydney for a week at the National Netball Championships 2 weeks ago. The girls played 2 games per day whilst in Sydney which was pretty tough on their young bodies but they were all used to ice baths by the end of the week!
Unfortunately the team didn’t come home with the Gold medal they were hoping for but did put together an impressive performance to bring home the Bronze medal after beating South Australia 33-29. It was exciting to see that 7 players from our team were selected for the Australian Under 17 squad who will now travel to the Australian Institute of Sport in May for a 4-day intensive training camp.
