Recently Michael Kaplan and friend of ASMC (Miranda Wallis - physio) travelled to China for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.  They went as part of the Headquaters medical team.  Between them and 2 other physios and 2 sports doctors they were responsible for maintaining 89 Australian Athletes.

These were the second Youth Olympic Games to ever be held. 28 sports are featured on the summer programme as well as including exciting new disciplines and formats, such as 3-on-3 basketball, ice hockey skills challenge and mixed gender and mixed National Olympic Committee (NOC) events.  These games were open to athletes between the age of 15 to 18 and participants from 201 nations attended the Nanjing Youth Olympics.

Australia brought one of the largest group of athletes and although an official medal tally was not being held, Australia did really well. Going on the performances of the athletes at these games, Australia has some amazing young talent coming through.

The highlights of the games were the Men's Hockey 5s and Women's Rugby 7s Gold Medal wins.
