We’ve Turned 40!

Did you know that was it this week way back in 1981 that Alphington Sports Medicine Clinic first opened its doors!

 

Established by Peter and Katherine Harcourt (both still current Directors), then later joined by Jill Cook and Steve Evans (dec.), the original Clinic was in Wingrove Street, near Alphington station.  It offered only Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy. At the time, Sports Medicine barely existed as a discipline and there were no guidelines as to how it should be done. Alphington was a trail blazer!

The festive season is fast approaching so we wanted to take this chance to say:

Merry Christmas to all - we wish you a happy & healthy 2020!

PLEASE NOTE:

Our standard hours over the Christmas and New Year period are: Monday to Friday 8.00am - 8.00pm, Saturdays 8:30am - 12.00pm

We are closed on Sundays from 8 December to 26 January and on the following Public Holidays: Wednesday 25 & Thursday 26 December 2019 + Wednesday 1 & Monday 27 January 2020.

We will be closing at 2.00pm on Tuesday 24 & 31 December.

ASMC Update

REMINDER: We're not going anywhere . . . yet!

Even though this (see image above) happened last week, nothing is changing - at least not for a while.

We have an ongoing lease in the building & the sale is simply phase 1 of our plan to bring the entire business together.

While we search for a suitable new building we will continue to offer our services as per usual - both at Alphington Sports Medicine Clinic, 339 Heidelberg Rd AND via the Exercise + Rehabilitation Centre at no. 376.

Exciting times ahead for Alphington Sports Medicine

Don't panic if you notice a For Sale sign out the front of our Exercise + Rehabilitation Centre building - we're not going anywhere . . . yet.

Educational Wokshop

15 March 2016

On Tuesday 8 March 2016 we presented an Educational Workshop in conjunction with Direct Radiology as a breakfast session.

 

The topic was Gluteal Tendinopathy - Implications for Assessment & Management, with local GPs and staff in attendance.

 

Speakers were our own Dr. David Bolzonello and Direct Radiology's Dr. Gaurav Gupta.

As we round out the first half of the year, we provide you with this quick update from Alphington Sports Medicine Clinic..

- Nicole Young (massage therapist) has started at the clinic. She comes to us with great exerience across a variety of massage techniques

- Gordon Pritchard (physiotherapist) has joined the team. He is currently working at our Alphington Exercise + rehabilitation facility, supervising our clinical pilates classes on Wednesday and Friday nights. He is also our new Sunday clinician at the main clinic site.

Madeleine Ellis (physiotherapist) Volunteers in East Timor

Alphington Sports Medicine Clinic's Madeleine Ellis (physiotherapist) traveled to East Timor recently to volunteer with the East Timor Eye Program - She has been good enough to recount her exerieces for us

April of this year I was invited to travel with the East Timor Eye Program to lend assistance with a surgical eye team in Maliana, a remote town on the border of Indonesia. During my stay I was lucky enough to assist and work with the Physiotherapist at Maliana Hospital.

- Kim Allison (physiotherapist) has begun at the clinic. She is currently taking clinical pilates classes at AERC. Welcome Kim!

- Professional Development has continued to flourish with our own Adam Culvenor's practical follow-up on osteoarthritis and ACL reconstruction. Thanks Adam. Very informative.
